Keynote: The Working Brain
Optimizing Workday Performance
Companies are grappling with a perfect storm of challenges: a looming recession, inflation, AI disruption, geopolitical tensions, and worker isolation from WFH or hybrid office models. These and other factors have lasting psychological impacts on employees leading to a startling decline in performance.
Unhappiness and unrest at work lead to a continuation of ‘the great resignation’, ‘silent quitting’, higher turnover, low morale, absenteeism, and lower-than-ever worker engagement. Rather than confront management roughly 65% of employees are seeking new jobs. Coupled with the drop in performance, Gallup estimates this costs US companies as much as 15 trillion dollars annually.
Well-meaning leadership teams struggle to diagnose these underlying issues or address the root cause early and instead offer band-aid solutions that only address the symptoms they can see. In this keynote, Dr. Brynn offers working professionals a holistic guide based on vetted, applied neuroscience research to overcome these psychological impacts and optimize employee brains for ideal workday performance.
New Book
When I set out to write “The Working Brain,” I wanted to bridge the gap between cutting-edge brain research and its practical application for professionals. As I delved into the brain’s physiology, I realized the potential to transform how we approach our daily routines and work schedules.
This journey also led me to develop the MERIT framework, a holistic guide to higher performance that helps people Move, Eat, Rest, Interact, and Think in ways that better align with their brain’s natural pre-dispositions and rhythms.
Drawing from my years of academic research and my hands-on experience with Fortune 100 companies, I crafted this book to address a common struggle among professionals: the relentless pursuit of performance, often driven by brain myths and ineffective strategies, which leaves them burned out, overwhelmed, or feeling unaccomplished.
Through “The Working Brain,” I invite readers to explore these concepts and apply the MERIT principles to achieve more in their workday without compromising their well-being, health, or sense of balance. This book is intended to be a ‘missing manual’ or practical roadmap inspired by real-world applications and success stories of peak performers just like you. The Working Brain is Available: January 7th, 2025
